Getting Ready for Your Water Heater Installation
We help you at every stage of your new water heater's installation. To start, here's some technical information to help you get ready.

Site Preparation
We'll do a site inspection with you to make sure that everything is safe and ready for your new water heater's installation. Here are some of the things that we'll look for.
Location
- Clear access to your current water heater
- Make sure your new water heater's location is close to an outside wall, and close to plumbing and electrical
- Tankless water heaters, need to be 0.9 m (3 feet) away from windows, doors and your gas meter
Chimney Liner
- For Conventional gas applications, you may need a chimney liner.
Dedicated Electrical Outlet
- For power vented and tankless water heaters, the distance from your electrical outlet must not exceed 1.54 m (5 feet)
- Extension cords are not permitted
Floor Drain
- Must be nearby and uncovered
Customer Supplied Materials
When we do the site inspection, we need to make sure these following safety parts are in place. If they aren't, we can install them for you, but there will be an additional charge. Our labour rates are comparable to market installation rates.
Mixer Valve
- Building Code requirement for Plumbing (Regulation 23/04)
Shut Off Valve
- Customer must provide accessible gas line tie-in and shut off valve within 7 – 7.6 m (20 - 25 feet)
Additional Venting / Fittings
- Our installation estimate includes standard venting and fittings materials. If your installation requires additional venting or fittings materials, there is an additional charge.
- Our technician will discuss these charges with you prior to starting any work.
